Sons desire to build the house, the church they are members of...They are WORSHIP oriented not "work" oriented.
A son can serve but a servant CANNOT be a son....Being a son is about relationship with Jesus and we should not only be about work in the church....

A son is loyal to his house and his family and as a son in the house he is happy when his siblings are blessed. In other words, a son will be happy that someone has received a healing while he is still ill! A son will be happy when someone in his house finds a new, well paying job when he is still looking for one....

Sons will take initiative and a servant takes orders...A son will not walk past a piece of paper on the floor of his house...he will simply pick it up...a servant will say, "Who's job is it to clean the house?"

A servant is task oriented and he will only do the task(s) assigned to him....

Sons use the language of family..."us" "we" and "our."
In other words, a son will say, "Our church is having a picnic to bless the neighborhood and feed people."

A servant will use the language of self, "I" "me" or the language of separation, "them" or "they" or "theirs." In other words, a servant will say, "They sure did a terrible job on the stairs. Someone better fix this!" But a son will say, "Well, we didn't do a great job on these stairs but may we can fix it together!"

Let's look at the story of the Prodigal Son....
Do you see the servant and the son here?

And he said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing. And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him. And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
Luke 15:11-32

The Prodigal Son's brother was indeed the servant!

Let's go back to our house...

In our house, the servant will take hostage of the new person's giftings, talents, etc.
What do I mean?
The newcomer to your church who may be a threat in some area of ministry to someone...this "someone" will take hostage, will attach himself to the newcomer and make it appear that although the newcomer has gifts, he must go through the servant to get recognized at the church...

The threat here is unrealistic of course and the servant's attitude is not one of sonship...Let me break this down a little more...

In our house we have a great sax player...the newcomer is a known sax player from the town...the servant attitude will latch onto this newcomer to the church and try to squelch the gifts, the talents and the possibility of this person joining the worship team!

A son's attitude would be, "Great! We have two sax players! Join me over here, brother!"

Sons are heirs and will reap from the family...a servant feels used by the house...A servant gripes about ministry times..."Oh, I wish "they" could move practice because this time is not good for "me!"

A servant does not want to be trained, disciplined or even discipled but, he does want what comes AFTER these things....

A son should never be intimidated by the father and, the son will cover the house...will avoid gossip, tale-bearing, breaking down but the servant will cause problems by telling the world about the problems in the house..

Let me break this down one mo time!
We look to Genesis and the story of Noah...

And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan. These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread. And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness. And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
Gen. 9:18-27

Ham came to Noah, saw he was drunk and yelled it to his brothers...A servant's attitude...The brothers came and would not even look upon their naked father AND, they covered him as well, keeping the incident to themselves...

What happened to Ham? The bible calls him a SERVANT!

In the name of Yeshua haMashiach,
God bless you,
Russ
